Fungal Infections

In some cases, a fungal infection can cause your hair loss!  Ringworm (tinea capitis), which is not actually a worm at all, can be a common cause of hair loss.

Fungal infections can happen anywhere on your body.  In the cause of tinea capitis, it can happen on your feed (athlete’s foot) or on your nails.  When it happens on your head, it can cause hair loss.  The fungus attacks keratin, the building blocks of hair.

The good news about fungal infections and hair loss is that the hair lost almost all of the time your hair will grow back!  Of course, speak with your doctor to confirm your diagnosis.
